Casino etiquette is an important part of any gaming experience. Generally, when guests go to a casino or online site to gamble they do so to have a good time. Poor casino etiquette can be the difference between a positive gaming experience and a negative one. Everyone is excited and happy to win money; however, it is how you lose money that shows your true character.
Visibly showing anger by slamming the gaming table with your hand or stamping your foot can be interpreted as hostile behaviour and is poor etiquette. If you lose a bet, it is important to do so with a certain amount of grace and dignity. Bad language is another example of poor etiquette and can have a very negative effect on those around you, including other guests and employees of the establishment.
This is also true of playing online games such as live roulette. It is also important to remember that only you and chance have anything to do with the outcome of the game. Don’t blame other guests or the dealer for your bad luck as they are not responsible for the choice of your bets.
Although it is not mandatory in casinos or necessary online, tipping the dealer when you win is a positive example of casino etiquette. This tip is a way of thanking the dealer for their hard work and is generally determined by the amount of a win. If you aren’t making money, a dealer would never expect you to tip them; however, if you are doing well, it is polite to toss a few dollars their way and state “for the dealers.” The dealer should then practice their own version of casino etiquette by tapping the chips on the table and thanking you for your generosity.
