It seems as though the spread of the online gambling industry in Europe will be moving a little slower than expected in Spain. It was recently announced that Spain has delayed the implementation of new online gambling laws for another six months, according to Online Casino Reports.
The laws are still on track, and will come into effect in June. The reasoning behind this decision was to allot more time to regulators, who are still reviewing the licensing applications, the media outlet reports. The new laws were passed in February 2011, and 61 operators applied by the December deadline.
The Spain gambling market is expected to boom and grow to a value of around €680 million euros by 2015, so it comes as no surprise that the Spanish government is ensuring that all of the details are squared away.
Players will still be able to play their favorite online roulette, poker or blackjack games in Spain, they will just have to wait until June to do so.
What do you think of Spain delaying the laws? Do you think this will have an impact on the online gambling industry as a whole?
