When it comes to predicting what will happen with online gambling in the U.S., it is anyone’s guess. However, a number of individuals have stepped forward to share their opinions.
"Come February, you’ll see a lot of activity in Nevada around legal online gaming. Some people will jump, we’ll certainly be ready," said Castle of Shuffle Master from Zynga. "The question is which companies will want to go first. It’s just got accelerated. 2012 is going to be a banner year in many ways."
Not everyone agrees. Deutsche Bank gaming analyst Andrew Zarnett believes that the Department of Justice legal opinion leaves a lot open – and it will not be as cut and dry as many think. Nevada Gaming Control Board Chairman Mark Lipparelli is on Zarnett’s side, saying that there needs to be more analysis surrounding the opinion before anything can be done.
What do you think will happen with Nevada and online gambling? Do you think it could be the first state to legalize online gambling entirely?
