Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney recently told Las Vegas news channel 8NewsNow that he does not support online gambling and does not expect it to become legalized.
Romney told the news source that he does not back it up. He says he’s against it because of the "social costs and people’s addictive gambling habits."
The Poker Players Alliance (PPA) were quick to fire back, explaining that Romney is unaware of the vast number of safeguards that will be put in place to protect players, including those with addictions, according to Poker News Report.
"Governor Romney’s statement seems to be based on a misperception of regulation and the status quo," said PPA Executive Director John Pappas. "We hope to educate him that regulation will mean strong enforcement and meaningful consumer protections, while doing nothing will only exacerbate any perceived problems he has with gaming."
Do you think that PPA has a chance to change Romney’s opinion on online gambling such as online roulette, poker, craps and slots?
