Nevada is one of the few states in the U.S. that is seriously considering legalizing online poker, and the Nevada Gaming Control Board recently held a public workshop to help lay the groundwork for regulations should online poker become authorized, Poker News Daily reports.
By all accounts it seems like the meeting went especially smooth since nobody involved, including attorneys and officials from gaming companies, seemed to object to the ideas that were put forward.
Among the most important regulations that were put forth was one that set the legal online gambling age at 21 and another proviso that limits the number of accounts players can have at one time. Additionally, any operators must take steps to prevent bot use, according to the news source.
"Similar to our land-based requirements, Nevada will establish high standards giving players as much confidence as possible in the entities and technologies that might eventually gain approval," the state’s gaming board chairman Mark Lipparelli said in a statement recently, the website reports.
Nevada joins a few other states who are looking to legalize online poker including California and New Jersey.
