Across Europe the latest trend in online roulette has been live-dealer gaming, where video equipment is used to capture an actual roulette wheel and croupier, as opposed to mere virtual representations. The style of gaming has been a hit with many punters who missed the feel of live action casinos, but couldn’t afford to make the trip to one whenever they wanted to play.
Though the format has become a mainstay of many online players, legal restrictions have forced those in Italy have had to go without. Yet that’s all about to change, as live-dealer developer Evolution Gaming has become the first live casino company to be approved and licensed by the Italian government.
Evolution will now be able to provide Italian online casinos with its popular line of live-dealer games including roulette, baccarat and blackjack, a move that Evolution’s CEO Jens von Bahr claims is a win for the Italian market as well as his company.
"This approval means players in Italy will soon have easy access to our world-leading Live Casino gaming via their PCs through a standard internet connection – with the ability to interact with the dealer and fellow players in real time," said von Bahr. "This online experience is as close as it gets to a visit to a real casino, and allows customers to take their seats at a live table when and where they choose."
