Online gambling has been a much-talked about topic in recent years and discussions continue to surface in an attempt to come to a nationwide decision. According to the Des Moines Register, it may not matter what the law says, as many will still find a way to play.
A recent survey conducted by researchers at the Univesrity of Iowa found that 5 percent of adults said that they have played games online, while 2 percent said they did so in the past 12 months, according to the media outlet.
"I believe the technology has gotten ahead of our laws, and if you want to avoid the downsides of some of the economic and social aspects, then you need a thoughtful approach," State Senator Jeff Danielson told the news source.
According to Fox Business, gaming associations across the country are pushing for states to have the right to either legalize or ban online gambling instead of having a national law pushing it one way or the other. The association also wants more regulations to be put in place such as regular audits on poker software and procedures to prevent money laundering and avoid underage gambling.
