The state of Florida struck a casino deal with the Seminoles, however it now wants in on the internet cafes. Revenues from this estimated $1 billion business does not go to the state, and many feel as though it is entitled to that money, as it is not a part of the deal, according to The Palm Beach Post.
"You have something that already exists. You’re adding regulations which arguably will make it harder to get these licenses," Senator Miguel Diaz de la Portilla told the news source. "So here you have a bunch of reasons why it doesn’t violate the compact and the Seminole Tribe and their lawyers know it. Now it may advance a strategic agenda they have to continue to be the only game in town. But the facts do not support what they say."
Portilla added that the games are sweepstakes because the results are predetermined, which does not violate the Seminole deal, the media outlet reports.
Do you think that internet cafes will be banned for awhile or will they figure out a way to regulate it? Do you think that the regulation of online roulette, poker and slots are far behind internet cafes?
