While Facebook has long hosted ads on its website, the popular social network had also barred online casinos from advertising there. However, the ban is over as the company recently lifted its prohibition, according to Online Casino Reports.
The change in policy allows nearly every website to advertise on Facebook, from online poker to online roulette and online slots. The delay stems largely from the challenge posed by adhering to where ever Facebook is used, which can be difficult because it is such a global entity. Still, Facebook put the onus on the advertisers to follow the laws of each particular location.
"Gambling advertising may be available through a direct sales partnership with Facebook," the company’s guidelines said, according to the news source. "These partnerships require a minimum monthly spend of $30,000."
The move will likely be applauded by online casinos everywhere as it gives them a much larger target audience. While laws regarding online gambling still remain unresolved in the United States, there are about 750 million Facebook users across the globe.
