California lawmakers are looking to online gambling as a solution to their money problems, as it is expected to be a $30 billion dollar business worldwide, according to the news channel KTVU-TV.
"The issue isn’t should people bet online. It’s happening already," Democratic Senator Lou Correa of Anaheim told the news outlet. Correa currently has a bill in place that would legalize online poker.
Correa added that six out of every 10 online gamblers across the nation are from California, and if they were to legalize it, they would be looking at $250 million right off the bat, according to the news source.
However, a number of groups are dead-set against online gambling, as they believe it will cause more harm than good to the state.
The entire country is having a tough time legalizing online roulette, poker, slots and other classic casino games. However, Nevada is the closet in making it official, the media outlet reports
Do you think that California will eventually legalize online gambling? Do you think that any state in the U.S. will legalize it, aside from those that already have it?
