With governments across the globe rapidly adopting more liberal online gambling laws, it’s an exciting time to be a gamer. Online casinos are constantly rolling into new territories and countries, creating a global gaming scene the likes of which has never been seen. The people of the Caribbean are about to get a new outlet for online roulette, as Canadian gaming group Amaya has announced that it has scored a license to operate within the Dominican Republic, the second largest country in the region.
The company offers a vast array of games including peer-to-peer games like poker and casino favorites like blackjack, roulette and baccarat, and hopes to launch a region-specific domain by the third quarter of 2011.
"We are extremely pleased to have secured this license to operate online gaming in the Dominican Republic," David Baazov, President and CEO of Amaya, told the press. "We believe our extensive gaming library and technological capabilities have been key deciding factors in securing this license. As one the fastest growing segments of the entertainment industry, online gaming still represents a significant untapped market segment for Amaya."
